Victim Identified in Lexington Fatal Accident

Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- One person has died after driving off the road and hitting a telephone pole Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened in Lexington County around 1:30 p.m. near Founders Road and Boiling Spring Road.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, Evin Scott Coombes, 21 of Columbia was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt that went off the left side of the road, hit an embankment, overturned, and then hit the a telephone pole and a tree.

Another person was in the vehicle, but was not injured.

Troopers also said that both the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts. Coombes was pronounced at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County coroner's office continues to investigate.
