Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Jackie Hite, the owner of the popular Jackie Hite's barbeque in Batesburg-Leesville, has passed away.
His restaurant confirmed his death in a posting on their Facebook page. "Our precious Daddy went home to be with Jesus!," it reads. "Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers."
Over the last few weeks, the page had been posting regular updates on his condition, which had been deteriorating. He had apparently been admitted to intensive care at the hospital.
His business was well-known throughout the Midlands as one of the top spots to get barbeque. Just last month, it had been featured on WLTX's "Restaurant Report Card" segment, where it won the Golden Spatula.
The family says visitation for Hite will be on Thursday, September 22nd from 5:00 - 7:00 at Barr-Price Funeral Home in Leesville. A graveside service will be held on Friday September 23rd at 11:am at Wittenberg Cemetery in Leesville.
