Men Gunned Down at Columbia Club, Suspects on the Loose

Richland County deputies are looking for suspects who killed two men at a Columbia club Wednesday morning.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies are looking for suspects who killed two men at a Columbia club Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, we're learning more about that nightclub's history.

Investigators say just after 3 a.m., they found two men with gunshot wounds at "Black Pearl" on Broad River Road. They were both pronounced dead on the scene.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the victims as 26-year-old Torance L. Peoples and 23-year-old Trevonne J. Judge.  Both died of a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Peoples' death came on his birthday.

"I got off of work, came here, had a few drinks, walked up the street to McDonald's, and literally came back to a bunch of nonsense," said Black Pearl patron, Calvin Pinckney.

An argument between two groups lead to multiple shots fired, according to a deputies.

"What's important to know is there was a crowd of people out there. We do know that more than one or two people saw what took place," said Lieutenant Curtis Wilson  with the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Wilson says within the last year, deputies were called to 32 separate incidents at Black Pearl. Those calls ranged from assault to gunfire and everything in between.

Donta Waise and Murahaia Stroman, guests at the Economy Inn behind Black Pearl, say they walked outside Wednesday morning to find a blood trail on the stairwell and across the parking lot connecting both businesses.

"It feels like an every day thing down here on Broad River Road," said Waise. "Stuff like this is nothing new happening here."

"We shouldn't have to be killing each other out here," said Stroman. "It's just little, petty stuff and it shouldn't have happened."

Deputies say an individual who may have valuable information is being questioned. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
