Midlands Tackle Football Team Is Formed For Women

The South Carolina Smash of the Women's Football Alliance had their first tryouts in preparation for their upcoming first season in April 2017.

COLUMBIA, SC (WLTX) - While football season is starting to come to end for high school and college teams there is one local team that is just getting started. Who is playing for this team may surprise you.
 
Full tackle women's football is coming to Columbia. That's not a typo.
 
The South Carolina Smash of the Women's Football Alliance had their first tryouts on Sunday at Seven Oaks Park.
 
The WFA was formed in 2007 and they have teams all over the country. The league plays with college football rules.
 
This women's team will be the first of it's kind in the Midlands.
 
The first season for the Smash starts in April but they will be having more tryouts in the next few weeks to complete their team.
