Mother Who 'Blacked Out' During Baby's Death Gets 13 Years in Prison

BELFAST, MAINE (NEWS CENTER) - A Maine mother who told police she blacked out after drinking several shots and smoking marijuana on the night of her 7-week-old son's death will be was sentenced to 13 years in prison.  

Miranda Hopkins was sentenced in Belfast to 13 years plus four years probation.  

The 32-year-old mother from Troy first blamed the death of her son Jaxson on one of her two children with autism before admitting she was "so drunk she did not remember" what happened. 

Jaxson died on January 12, 2017 and the cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries. 

Hopkins says she woke up to find her baby cold and "beat to hell."
