Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Coach Steve Spurrier told News19 Tuesday afternoon that third-string quarterback Andrew Clifford was injured in a moped accident over the weekend.
The Head Ball Coach said Clifford would probably miss two or three weeks after the injury. He is listed on the Gamecock Football depth chart as third in his position, behind Stephen Garcia and Conner Shaw, who share a starting position. Related Coverage: Steve Spurrier Won't Name a Starting QB
Spurrier said Clifford fell off of a moped he was attempting to operate while carrying a pizza in one hand. The coach said the quarterback had to receive stitches from injuries he sustained during the accident.
The coach said he hopes Clifford's mistake would be a lesson to the whole team.
