Colonel Bruce T. Crawford
Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A hometown hero will be moving up the Army ranks in September with a promotion taking place overseas.
Colonel Bruce T. Crawford, a native of Columbia and ARMY ROTC graduate of SC State will be promoted to Brigadier General in Germany on September 4th.
Col. Crawford was raised by a single mother of four, a veteran father and grandparents who could barely read or write.
His family will be able to watch the promotion via live stream at Fort Jackson in less than a month.
Cadets from SC State will also be watching the ceremony which will broadcast through the internet.
Col. Crawford's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
