Berkeley County, SC (WLTX) - State Law Enforcement Division agents have arrested a Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon employee they say took bribes from an offender.
Vincent O'Neal Howard, 49, of Summerville is charged with public officials, bribes, influence of a public employee. Howard worked at the Probation, Parole, and Pardon office in Moncks Corner.
An affidavit states that back on October 23, Howard asked an offender who was under his supervision for money in exchange for early release.
According to the document, the offender paid Howard on November 1, and Howard accepted the money, intending to use it on himself.
It turns out the offer to Howard from the offender was part of an undercover operation by SLED.
