Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A Thursday morning fire has destroyed a duplex in Northeast Richland County.

The blaze began just before 11 a.m. in the 8000 block of Brookfield Road.

Columbia firefighters say no one was hurt.

A total of three people lost their home because of the fire. Fire officials say improperly discarded fireplace ashes led to the blaze.
