Friday, members of the delegation passed a resolution calling for her resignation, or for the elections board to remove her if she refused to resign.

McBride's attorney issued a statement Friday afternoon saying she would not be resigning. John Nichols, McBride's attorney, cites a recent Attorney General ruling that says the county election board has the authority to fire the elections director, not the county's legislative delegation. The statement ends by saying "Mrs. McBride will continue to execute the duties of her office until the Board instructs otherwise."
Allen Dowdy, the acting chairman of the Elections and Voter Registration Board, says he plans to convene a board meeting over the holidays. Dowdy says that meeting probably would not take place January 2nd or 3rd depending on when the board members could attend.
