Chapin, SC (WLTX) - A Chapin High School teacher who stomped on an American flag during one of his lessons is asking the Lexington-Richland 5 school board to overturn a recommendation for his termination.
The board will decide Monday night at their meeting when to hear the appeal of Scott Compton.
The Lexington-Richland 5 Superintendent has recommended that Compton be fired.
Compton's attorney says the teacher was not trying to be disrespectful, but was trying to generate discussion by using a powerful symbol.
