Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- "I received the call, I was still at work. nd ll I could think was just please let him be OK."
Bobbi Jackson's grandson, Ayden, and her three daughters were involved in a car crash on Interstate 20 about two years ago.
"As it turned out, he was not OK," Jackson said.
Ten-month old Ayden was thrown out of the vehicle because he was not properly strapped into his car seat. After that tragic incident, Jackson was determined to make a difference.
"I'm very adamant about this," she said. "Saving lives all for my grandbaby Ayden."
Jackson is a volunteer for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety's Families of Highway Fatalties. She hopes to spread the word of correctly protecting precious cargo.
"I'm not doing it for myself. I'm doing it for Ayden. It's for his memory," she said. "If it had not been for losing him I wouldn't be here today to be able to share my story with others and to educate the public about it."
So in Ayden's memory, Jackson is watching over little ones here.
