Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Four Midlands towns have been named "traffic safe communities" by AAA Carolinas.
The towns were Irmo, Newberry, Elloree, and Lynchburg.
The AAA Carolinas says they recognized the towns for their "strong effort to make our state's roads safer." AAA looked at crash statistics, number of law enforcement officers per capita, and if they had a formal traffic safety program or traffic division.
Fifteen overall winners were selected, as were three Grand Winners (Elloree, Newberry, Goose Creek.
