Irmo, SC (WLTX) - A Midlands couple was onboard that crippled cruise ship that gave its passengers a nightmare vacation.
Trey and Kendall Love of Irmo were aboard the Carnival Triumph.
The couple decided to leave their kids with the grandparents and take a cruise together to celebrate their 40th birthdays. They picked this ship out of Galveston, Texas because they have friends there.
A fire onboard the ship disabled most everything needed to have an enjoyable trip. Passengers say living conditions onboard the vessel have been deplorable.
Trey said he and his wife have been making do the best that they can.
"There are definitely some sights and smells that I'd rather not see again, but that's been the biggest thing other than the fire, just the santitation part of it," Trey said.
Trey says they slept on the deck a few nights and inside the ships casino Wednesday night. They've been eating onion and cucumber sandwiches and have tried to stay positive.
This was Trey's first cruise and despite the problems, he says this won't be his last.
