Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The City of Columbia Water Works has lifted the boil water advisory for water customers in Richland County.

According to city officials, water customers in Old Oak Drive, Woodcrest Drive, Green Tree Drive, Green Tree Circle and Green Cedar Drive no longer need to boil water prior to drinking or cooking.

The City of Columbia Water Works officials say after an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples indicated that the water is safe to use.
