Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Cooperative Ministry has 30 new beds, after generous WLTX viewers saw one of our reports and decided to donate to the agency.
In November, the Cooperative Ministry had let the public know that they were in need of beds to help people have a bed for the holidays.
WLTX reporter Daniel Bonds profiled the need in a report--a report that concluded with ways people could help.
Since that time, viewers have donated mattresses to the ministry. This past Monday, a delivery truck arrived with 12 mattresses for the agency that had been given by an anonymous person. In total, about 30 mattresses have been donated since the report aired, according to the Ministry.
The Cooperative Ministry's Yolanda Green says they see cases where several children have to sleep on one mattress.
"A lot of folks that I see are thankful for something that we all take for granted. A comfortable night's sleep," she said.
People on the group's waiting list have been notified that they can pick up a mattress.
To donate a bed or to make a monetary donation, head to the Cooperative Ministry website. The Cooperative Ministry is able to buy mattresses wholesale for $100 a mattress.
