Fairfield County, SC (WLTX) - A TV manufacturing company is coming to Fairfield County, bringing with it 500 new jobs.
Element Electronics announced Thursday at a news conference that they will create a new facility in the county, a move that represents a $7.5 million investment. The plant will make new flat-screen televisions.
"Today's announcement represents a big step for our company, and we are excited to locate our new operations in Fairfield County," said Element Electronics President Mike O'Shaughnessy in a statement. "South Carolina provides an excellent business environment for our television manufacturing operations, and we look forward to doing great things here. We appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials."
To make the move possible, the company transferred their production operation from China to the Midlands. It's expected to begin making tvs in December.
The 315,000 square feet facility will be located in Winnsboro at 392 U.S. Highway 321 Bypass North. It's actually inside a building that has been vacant for years.
The company says they'll start hiring later in the year. Anyone who wants to apply for positions can find out more information at that time by going to www.sctechjobs.com
