Midlands Voters Encounter Long Lines

There were a few bumps at today early on at the polls.

Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Election day in the Midlands is underway and several News 19 viewers are experiencing long lines at their polling places.

Here are a few of the pictures tweeted to us from viewers of the line early Tuesday morning.

The News 19 #verifyvotes hotline took a few calls from viewers encountering problems at the polls. We have contacted the State Election Commission who is working to verify those potential problems.

If you have any problems at your polling place, we want to know about them, and separate fact from fiction. You can also tweet us pictures at @WLTX using the hashtag #verifyvotes.

We've had two reports of precincts with only one voting machine.

Just a reminder when you do head to the polls today remember to bring one (1) of the following forms of photo ID:

  • SC Driver's License
  • SCDMV ID Card
  • SC Voter Registration Card with photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • United States Passport

The South Carolina Election Commission wants to remind voters to be patient with the voting process. News 19 will have coverage of Election 2016 on air and online at w;tx.com.
