New York, NY (WLTX) - South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will meet with President-Elect Donald Trump today to discuss a possible cabinet position, multiple media outlets are reporting.
The reports say Haley will travel to Trump Tower in New York for a face-to-face appointment. Haley's office has not confirmed that the meeting is taking place.
On Wednesday, Haley's name began surfacing as a possible candidate for the Secretary of State job, with South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Henry McMaster telling the Associated Press that she was under consideration. McMaster also said he was a possible choice for attorney general.
Haley had occasionally been a critic of some of Trump's rhetoric on the campaign trail, but ultimately supported his candidacy once he got the GOP nomination and voted for him in the general election. At the Republican Governor's Association Meeting this week, Haley said she and her fellow governors were "giddy" at the prospect of what a Republican president and a GOP controlled Congress could do in the coming years.
