Vice-President 'Takes Off Coat' to Talk About Trump

The Vice-President once again had some harsh criticisms about GOP Presidential Nominee Donald Trump.

Sumter, SC (WLTX, AP) - Vice-President Joe Biden used a congressional campaign stop in Sumter to once again give some harsh words to Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump.

"I wasn't going to get started on Trump, but I think maybe I better take my coat off," Biden said as he spoke to a group of about 450 people at Morris College.

The vice president was there to campaign for Democrat Fran Person, a former Biden aide who is hoping to unseat incumbent GOP Rep. Mick Mulvaney in U.S. House District Five.

"Donald Trump says yeah he rooted for the housing crisis because that was good business," Biden said. "Millions of people got hurt, lost everything, lost everything they had. But he thought that was good business. He said that he hasn't paid taxes for 18 years but that's because he's smarter than you. Because he's so smart."

He also said Trump is doing damage internationally with his brash statements.

He also said that Republicans don't understand issues important to most Americans, like the cost of higher education. Biden says Democratic candidates like Person can help alleviate Capitol Hill gridlock.

Biden later appeared at an event in Rock Hill.
