I-26 in Newberry County Reopened Following Major Delays Tuesday Evening

A roofing truck spilled roofing nails on the highway causes a shutdown

Columbia, SC (WLTX)  Roofing nails scattered across I-26 near Newberry caused the closing of lanes and long traffic delays Tuesday evening. 

According to Highway Patrol, a roofing truck flipped over on I-26 EB near MM 86 in Newberry County around 7:30 p.m., spilling roofing nails across eastbound lanes. No one was injured in the crash.  

Following cleanup of the roadway, all lanes were re-opened around 11 p.m..

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
