COLUMBIA, S.C. - A gas leak broke nearby Rosewood Elementary School on Rosewood Drive Wednesday, and is affecting students' departure.
Initially, the gas leak posed no immediate threat, and classes went on as planned, but they kept students and staff indoors as a precaution. Streets in the area were also blocked off to traffic. SCE&G notified school officials that it could be two or three hours before the leak is contained, affecting end-of-day activities. As such, parents were notified that students would be transported by buses to Memorial Stadium at the regular dismissal time.
Students who normally ride the bus home will still board their bus at school, as daycare vans will also pickup students as usual.
