Saturday Shooting in 5 Points Under Investigation

Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Authorities say there was a shooting early Saturday morning Columbia's in Five Points

Police responded to the 800 block of Harden Street around 12:45 a.m. and collected evidence. Witnesses said they saw a fight between the victim and the suspected shooter.

Officers say a friend of the victim pulled him away from the fight. They ran into a parking lot across the street, and got into a vehicle attempting to leave the scene.

The shooter fired several shots at the moving vehicle. A male victim was shot in the leg. The driver then brought the victim to the hospital.

Medical officials told CPD that the injuries did not appear life-threatening.

Columbia police officials do not believe this was a random act of violence, and that it stemmed from a previous issue.

Investigators are in the process of determining if video surveillance captured the fight and shooting incident. They have released photos of a group of people they say are persons of interest who may have information in the case.

CPD asks citizens with information about this incident to call Crimestoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
