SC Woman who left Assisted Living Run Down in Road

GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina woman who walked out of an assisted living center is dead and officials are blaming it on a motorist who fled the scene.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said Sunday that the 46-year-old Gaffney woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday evening. Fowler says the victim was Tina Ann Miller.

Fowler says video records show the woman left Ivy Grove Residential Center in Gaffney and told staff members she was trying find another resident who planned to walk to the hospital. Residents of the home are allowed the freedom to come and go but are supposed to sign out when leaving, which Miller didn't do.

Fowler says the woman appears to have been near the middle of the road when struck by a vehicle.
