Social Media Leads Owner to Stolen Bulldog

ATLANTA — A South Carolina man has been reunited with the beloved bulldog he feared he'd never see again after his car was stolen with his pet inside.

Michael Buckley's bulldog, Tazzie, had been missing since his car was stolen in Atlanta on Thursday.

Buckley was headed from Charleston, S.C., to Colorado when he had car trouble. After asking three teens for directions at an Atlanta intersection, he went to the back of his Ford Explorer to check on Tazzie. Two of the teens jumped his vehicle and drove off.

Police found his vehicle the next day, but Tazzie was nowhere to be found.

Buckley stayed in Atlanta to search for his best friend of five years. After the story aired on WXIA-TV, more than 10,000 people shared the story about the search for Tazzie on Facebook.

On Tuesday, Tazzie was found about two blocks from where Buckley's car had been stolen.

Melissa Robinson said she found Tazzie roaming the streets on Friday. Robinson, who said she owns an American bulldog, said she fed Tazzie, bathed her and took care of her. When she came home from work on Tuesday, she saw a flyer about Tazzie and called Buckley.

"He was like, 'Oh my God, it's her,'" Robinson said. "Yeah he just kept hugging me."

Michael and Tazzie are back together again and can continue their journey to Colorado, where Michael was moving to when he ran into trouble in Atlanta. But before he goes, he wants everyone to know that the three kids that stole his dog and car should not give this city a black eye.

"Yeah, there was the negativity of the fact that this happened in Atlanta, but you know, it just goes to show you how many people around here and in this community my aid and tried to help me find this dog and it was just great," Buckley said.

Buckley said he's grateful for everyone who helped -- from the volunteers who helped him post flyers, to the hotel staff where he stayed, to the complete stranger who drove him around the city the past few days helping him get his car back and looking for Tazzie.

"I'm so grateful that everything ended up like this and I'm actually back with her because I'm going to be honest with you, I didn't think that I was gonna have her back," Buckley said.
