Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Providence Hospital Northeast is being expanded and renovated, leaders at the hospital announced Tuesday.
The hospital's board of trustees approved a $38.4 million plan "for enhancing orthopaedic care and general medical services."
The hospital's main building and adjacent office will both be upgrade, bringing 38 new beds to the facility and 75 to 100 jobs.
Specifically, the hospital says the upgrades include an energy plant, an added MRI service, patient care areas, and renovated emergency, surgery, and recovery areas.
"We are focused on growing our facility to meet the needs of our community," said Ryan Hall, Vice President of Providence Hospital Northeast, in a written statement. "This project is not only a significant investment that will expand our ability to provide excellent orthopaedic care and continue to strengthen general medical services, but will also provide jobs for people who live here."
The hospital is expected to begin construction in mid-March.
