Pedestrian Killed in 5 Points Identified

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Coroner has released the name of the victim that was struck and killed by a vehicle in Five Points early Saturday morning.

Police say 24-year-old Justin A. Timmerman of Chapin, was hit while attempting to cross Harden Street at 4am Saturday. Authorities say Timmerman died at the scene. The autopsy revealed that the victim sustained fatal injuries from the collision.

The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old William Holt Carlen, has been charged with Felony DUI.

 

 

A bond hearing took place Sunday morning at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. The judge issued a $250,000 bond for 24-year-old William Holt Carlen, and is requiring him to wear an ankle monitor. Carlen also must stay with his parents while undergoing unspecified treatment.

The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate.
