Columbia, SC (WLTX)- It all started last summer with the announcement of Whole Foods coming to Southeast Columbia.
"The recent announcements, the construction...those are all things that we are proud to say are happening as a result of this," said Herbert Ames, Development Manager at Edens.
And since that announcement several other businesses and restaurants have been popping up in the area.
Their newest neighbors are expected to be Moe's and Smash Burger.
Construction hasn't started yet, but the signs recently went up on Devine Street.
Folks in the Cross Hill Neighborhood, just behind the new development, are thrilled with their new neighbors. Charlie Vassy has been living in the area for 30 years and says he couldn't be happier.
"Love it, love it, love it! No one has any reservations about the new businesses. We are all very excited," said Vassy.
The developers are hoping to have several of the businesses at the Cross Hill Market completed by October.
No word yet on when Moe's and Smash Burger will open.
