Clemson, SC (WLTX) --- Clemson received a verbal commitment from defensive end Robert Nkimdiche Thursday (Loganville, GA), who is rated by many scouting services as the top recruit in the 2013 class.

Nkemdiche (pronounced KIM-dee-chee) is described by one coach to compare favorably to former Tiger All-America Daquan Bowers at the position.

He's the Tigers' eighth commitment of this recruiting season and, like other recruits, will have to wait until February's signing day to make it official. Two of his Grayson High School teammates, David Kamara and Wayne Gallman, have also committed to Clemson.

Nkemdiche's signing will mean that the Palmetto State's two major programs have landed a player regarded as the nation's top recruit in two of the past three years as South Carolina signed defensive end Jadaveon Clowney.
