Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Omar Vizquel ended his illustrious 24-year
career on a high note, lacing a base hit to center field to move into sole
possession of 40th place on the all-time hits list.
The 45-year-old Venezuelan passed Mel Ott with his single in the seventh
inning of the Toronto Blue Jays' 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins. It was the
2,877th hit of Vizquel's career.
Vizquel finished the game 1-for-3 while Rajai Davis and Adeiny Hechavarria
each drove in runs for the Blue Jays (73-89), who have won three straight.
Brandon Morrow (10-7) allowed one run on three hits and struck out 11 over
eight innings to reach the 10-win plateau for the third consecutive season.
Ben Revere went 3-for-4 and Matt Carson drove in the lone run for the Twins
(66-96), who dropped their final five games of the season.
Scott Diamond (12-9) was saddled with the loss after giving up two runs on
five hits over five innings.
