Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Dan Johnson hit three home runs and drove in
five as the Chicago White Sox ended their disappointing stretch on a high note
with a 9-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.
Chicago had a three-game lead in the American League Central as late as Sept.
18, but a 2-10 slump prior to winning two of its final three games allowed the
Detroit Tigers to steal the division title.
Gavin Floyd (12-11) tossed seven innings of three-hit scoreless ball on
Wednesday, while Dayan Viciedo went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and four runs
scored for the White Sox (85-77).
The Indians (68-94) finished fourth in the AL Central.
David Huff (3-1) got roughed up for seven runs -- three earned -- on nine hits
and two walks over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss.
