Moscow, ID (Sports Network) - Chase Hallam scored 14 points in leading the
Denver Pioneers past the Idaho Vandals, 55-49, in a Western Athletic
Conference battle at Cowan Spectrum.
Chris Udofia added 12 points for Denver (7-7, 3-1 WAC) which has won five
straight.
Stephen Madison had a game-high 19 points for Idaho (6-7, 2-1) and Connor
Hill chipped in 12 points. The Vandals have lost back-to-back games after
consecutive victories.
After shooting 55 percent from the field in the first half Idaho held a
28-24 lead at intermission. Denver shot at a 47.6 percent clip in the first
20 minutes.
Both teams cooled off in the second half. Denver shot just 39.1 percent,
which was worse than the 40 percent Idaho managed, but using a 9-3 edge from
beyond the arc and a 10-8 advantage from the free throw line, the Pioneers
were able to pull out the win.
Idaho lost despite a 25-17 edge on the boards. Denver forced 18 turnovers
which the Pioneers converted into 19 points.
