Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Anthony Kelley recorded a double-double with 10
points and 11 rebounds as the Illinois-Chicago Flames defeated the Milwaukee
Panthers, 60-50, in Horizon League play at the UIC Pavilion.
Gary Talton was two rebounds shy of a double-double as he tallied 14 points
for the Flames (12-8, 3-4 HL). Joey Miller and Will Simonton scored 12 and 10
points, respectively, off the bench as UIC won for the second time in three
tries.
For the Panthers (5-15, 1-5), Paris Gulley recorded a team-high 14 points and
six rebounds. Jordan Aaron chipped in 13 points, five rebounds, and four
assists as Milwaukee recorded a second consecutive setback.
Milwaukee shot 48.4 percent from the floor, including 8-of-18 from long range
in the first half, while holding UIC to a mere 2-of-9 from beyond the arc, en
route to a 42-25 advantage at the half.
UIC completely shut down Milwaukee in the second half, limiting the Panthers
to a mere 3-of-25 from the floor including 0-of-17 from beyond the arc. UIC
held a 35-8 scoring advantage in the second.
UIC controlled the boards, 45-35, and points in the paint, 32-18.
