Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Interstate 20 is back up and running after a fatal accident Tuesday night.

State troopers say the driver of the tanker truck that overturned died.

The collision took place in the westbound lanes near mile marker 82 just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Trooper Brent Kelley says the tanker hit a guardrail on the side of the road, causing the driver to lose control and overturn.

The driver died at the scene.

According to officers, the truck contained no fuel.

Traffic had to be shut down and detoured in the area while crews worked to clear the scene.
