Fairfield County, SC (WLTX) - The National Weather Service confirms a weak tornado did touchdown in Fairfield County Sunday.
A storm survey conducted Monday found evidence that the twister dropped down around 7:47 p.m. on Mood Harrison Road, which is three miles east of the town of Ridgeway.
The twister was an "EF-0," the weakest type of tornado on the scale that measures intensity. Winds were estimated at between 65 and 85 miles an hour.
The tornado knocked down six trees and brought down large limbs. A car experienced minor damage from a fallen tree.
The tornado was part of a series of storms that moved through the area. This was the only report of a tornado spawned from the system, however.
The National Weather Service did issue a warning for the affected area when the twister was in the area.
