(Newberry County) - Newberry deputies have arrested 20 deadbeat parents, and five others for separate charges in their Thursday round up.
The Newberry County Sheriff's Office executed a round up Thursday to find offenders not paying court ordered child support.
"[They] create an undue burden on their children and ultimately upon every taxpayer in Newberry County," said Sheriff Lee Foster.
Foster says officers formed into teams Thursday morning and began searching for Newberry County's most wanted deadbeat parents. By the end of the day, 20 people who total more than $380,000 in unpaid child support were arrested and an five more people were in custody on charges that arose from the operation.
"We have always pursued those who chose to not pay their child support," said Sheriff Foster. "However, we are making an even more aggressive effort to actively pursue and bring to justice those who fail to support their own children and create an undue burden on each and every tax paying citizen."
According to Foster, more arrests are expected.
Deputies arrested 42-year-old Douglas E. Beaty of 101 Stapipe Street in Union, and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $35,707.07 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 53-year-old Johnny Ray Bereley of 1230 Hillcrest Road in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $7,453.45 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 38-year-old Timothy Caldwell of 5203 Macedonia Church Road in Prosperity and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $31,524.81 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 39-year-old Tobie Lorenzo Carter of 319 Boundary Street in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $16,798.00 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 30-year-old Benjamin Chandler of 866 South Main Street in Prosperity and charged him with two family court bench warrants. They say he is $19,830.17 and $6,605.53 behind in child support, respectively.
Deputies arrested 40-year-old Timothy Lamar Cromer of 1412 Drayton Street in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $26,922.67 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 32-year-old Anthony Tyrone Davis of 3431 Chick Drive in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $2,874.06 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 46-year-old Thomas E. Dorley of 218 Meadow Creek Road in Little Mountain and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $8,723.01 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 48-year-old James Evans Gallman of 163 Gallman Road in Prosperity and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $33,425.78 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 30-year-old Jermaine Gallman of 3765 Bethel Church Road in Prosperity and charged him with two family court bench warrants. They say he is $2,186.88 and $4,820.21 behind in child support, respectively.
Deputies arrested 32-year-old Brent Greenwood of 204 Little Ranches Road in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $375.65 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 40-year-old Deena Ann Griffin of 11015 Bush River Road in Newberry and charged her with a family court bench warrant. She is $236.88 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 33-year-old Letrevia Nicole Lindsay of 101 Boundary Street in Newberry and charged her with a family court bench warrant. She is $10,747.05 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 50-year-old Michael Douglas Mangrum of 8102 South Carolina Highway 121 in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. He is $31,057.13 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 39-year-old Jeffery Elbert Tate of 684 Central School Road in Pomaria is charged with a family court bench warrant. He is $13,317.71 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 26-year-old Joshua Derrick White of 83 Adam Tessenair Road in Newberry charged with him a family court bench warrant. He is $6,449.07 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 38-year-old Zachary Paul White of 3556 Creek Street in Newberry and charged him with a family court bench warrant. He is $43,501.32 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 40-year-old Elmer Gene Wilson of 307 Forest Hill Drive in Prosperity and charged him with three family court bench warrants. They say he is $21,513.78; $9,476.53; and $20,854.71 behind in child support, respectively.
Deputies arrested 47-year-old Gerald Stanley Wise of 4505 Saint Lukes Church Road in Prosperity and charged him with a family court bench warrant. They say he is $29,630.66 behind in child support.
Deputies arrested 72-year-old Azalee Greenwood Armstrong of 204 Little Ranches Road in Newberry charged the suspect with resisting arrest and hindering an officer serving process.
Deputies arrested 24-year-old Jackie Lynn Cannon Jr. of 2516 Lockhart Highway in Union and charged her with giving false information to a police officer.
Deputies arrested 20-year-old Joshua Raymous Gray of 361 Brown Chapel Drive in Newberry and charged him with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies arrested 28-year-old Robert Franklin Gregory of 113 Oak Street in Union and charged him with no driver's license in possession and trespassing.
Deputies arrested 29-year-old Robert Allen Hershey of 808 College Street in Newberry and charged him with magistrate court bench warrants for fraudulent checks.
