(Fairfield County)-The Fairfield County School Board welcomed a new Superintendent Tuesday morning.

Dr. Samantha Ingram says walking the halls of the district office is a destiny fulfilled.

Dr. Ingram said, "This is a dream come true and I've always wanted to be in a position where I could make a difference in the lives of children."

Ingram comes from mobile, Alabama where she was Deputy Superintendent. With that kind of experience, she has three main goals for her new district.

First, she plans to improve student achievement, build leadership capacity in the organization and improve community and business involvement with the district.

Dr. Ingram said, "I look at the strengths I bring to the table and one is being able to think out the box and creating ideas so that we can address our challenges such as vacancies and recruitment of teachers."

Her focus is the students and their performance.

She said, "We'll start by identifying the specific needs of the students which helps us identify the specific training we need to provide for our teachers."

She describes her self as results driven and hands on.

Dr. Ingram said, "You'll see that I'll conduct a lot of the training that needs to be done in our district and I'll find teachers that specialize in certain areas and we'll work together and develop that training together."

Through that kind of collaboration, she believes students will reap tremendous benefits.

Ingram said, "My goal is to ensure that our teachers have support and resources they need so that our students can be successful."

Dr. Ingram has two daughters who she'll be enrolling in the Fairfield County School District.
