(Ridgeway) -- Brian Moore returned home Tuesday after spending more than a month at the Carolina Rehab Center in Charlotte.
"I was like wow it changed so much. This used to be two seperate rooms. This is a totally different house," explained Moore when he saw his home.
He told us his first night home,"I slept like a baby and it felt pretty good no complaints."
His mother, Virginia Brown, said the first 24 ours Moore was home felt like a regular day.
Brown added, "the only thing is I have to administer the medicine."
Moore's confident his Mom can take care of him in their own home.
"I think our time at the rehab center really helped out the situation I really believe my Mom is gonna be able to handle taking care of me," explained Moore.
While Moore was in rehab his father was busy reconstructing the home to be wheelchair friendly.
"I did the interior work on the house tore the rooms out and put new walls in. Redid the hallway put a 36-inch door on the inside of the house and started to do all the plumbing for the bathroom," said Julius Moore, Brian's father.
One of the things Brian's family needs most is a wheelchair accessible vehicle to bring him to and from therapy. Right now his mother drives a Chevrolet Sebring and she believes it just too hard to get him in and out of the car.
His father is working on building a concrete driveway with a carport to protect Moore from the outdoor elements. Moore also needs a shower wheelchair, his bathroom finished and a ramp down to the den. These are all things that could make life better for Brian, but for now he's thankful for what he has and he's just happy to be home.
"It feels great I'm glad to be back with my family and there is just no place like home," exclaimed Moore.
Moore will begin out-patient therapy in just a few weeks.
This weekend there will be dedication basketball games held at the Fairfield Central High School Gym on August 10th with 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 basketball tournaments starting at 6 p.m. There will also be a Rotary Classic Jamboree on August 11th at 6 p.m. Moore is expected to attend both of the events.
