Woman Dies in Van Accident, 7-year-old in ICU, Another in Critical Condition

(Lee County) - A woman belonging to a Hopkins church congregation is dead and three others are in the hospital after their van overturned on the interstate.

The Lee County Cororner's office says 38-year-old Jacqueline M. Moore of 2319 Pendleton Street in Columbia died in the Sunday accident. Troopers say Moore died while being treated at Carolina Pines Hospital.

Officials say three people are still in hospital, with one of them in critical condition. According to hospital officials, a seven-year-old boy is being treated in the intensive care unit. Another woman who was injured in the accident is being treated for a broken arm and wrist.

The 1992 Ford van, belonging to the Prayer and Faith Temple out of Hopkins, was heading to a service in Florence when a tire blew on I-20 near the Bishopville exit Sunday afternoon. Investigators say as the driver tried to steady the van, a second tire blew. Josef Robinson with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says they accident happened near milemarker 118 in Lee County.

Several people were ejected from the van that flipped several times. The van was transporting 17 people at the time of the accident.

We're told more passengers were taken to area hospitals, including Carolina Pines and Palmetto Richland.

The the driver of the van has been identified as 48-year-old Irvin Bryant.
