Cayce (WLTX) - USC Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier has suspended two players following an incident involving marijuana.
Spurrier released the following written statement Monday afternoon: "Both Dion Lecorn and Matt Clements are suspended from all team activities indefinitely."
The move comes after an arrest Sunday night about 9 p.m. in Cayce in the Parking Lot at Riverside Estates Apartments.
Authorities say Lecorn, Clements, and another man were detained after authorities responded to a call of loud music from their car. Officers say they smelled marijuana inside.
Investigators say LeCorn told them he had purchased the marijuana from an individual at the Five Points Food Lion. LeCorn was the one driving the vehicle.
The report states the men admitted to using marijuana, and Lecorn indicated the drugs were his.
Lecorn, 19, is charged with one count of simple possession of marijuana. Lecorn was released on a personal recognizance bond.
LeCorn and Clements are both freshmen from Florida. Lecorn had 27 catches for 315 yards and three touchdowns last season.
According to the police report, Clements is wanted by authorities in Florida for a failure to appear bench warrant. He will not be extradited to Florida, neither he nor Castleberry were charged in Sunday night's incident.
