Mullins Son Faces Murder Charge After Mother Strangled

MULLINS (AP) -- Authorities say a 22-year-old man killed his mother by strangling her and severely beat his sister. Mullins Police Captain Michael Bethea says Anthony Pringle refuses to talk to investigators, who don't have a motive for the killing. Authorities say Pringle also stole his mother's debit card, leading to a charge of financial transaction card theft. Bethea told the Morning News of Florence that Pringle attacked his mother and sister early Friday morning. Bethea says the sister was badly beaten, but is expected to recover. Marion County jail officials say Pringle is awaiting a bond hearing. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
