Columbia (WLTX) -- Sometimes one good deed leads to another, which is often the case with Kids' Chance Scholarships.

Sisters Leanne and Sara Beth Fuller both work at Seven Oaks Elementary. Years ago, their father was injured working as a police officer. For their parents, that spelled double trouble when it came to paying for college.

The ray of hope came from Kids' Chance of South Carolina. Leanne says, "For me, it was like hope, like I could go to the college I wanted to."

Kids' Chance offers scholarships to dependents of injured workers of South Carolina. Over $400,000 of scholarships have been awarded to people like Leanne and Sara Beth since 1992.

Executive Director Angie Kohl explains, "They are going to have the financial impact of an injury at home, that's going to create a huge financial burden for them."

Kids' Chance sent both sisters through college. They found it was easier to focus on their education than on how much it would cost. As the sisters also learned, some gifts keep on giving. Leanne says, "You know, what happened to my dad wasn't anything good, so the positive of it, was he was doing something for others, now we're given something in return."

Both sisters plan to return to school this year for higher education. They will use their education to continue to educate others.

There's a golf tournament to benefit Kids' Chance on April 18, 2008. If you wish to learn more about the golf tournament, or how you can receive a scholarship, visit www.kidschancesc.org.
