Columbia (WLTX) - A corrections officer has been charged with inappropriate sexual conduct with an inmate at the jail where she was working.
Menika Smith, 31, has been charged with second-degree sexual misconduct with an inmate.
State Law Enforcement Division agents say the incident happened sometime between December of 2007 and March of 2008 at the Stevenson Correctional Facility in Richland County.
Agents say a prisoner told them that Smith let the inmate inappropriately touch her. The affidavit says the two were hugging as well.
Smith was booked at the Richland County Jail.
