Columbia (WLTX) -- University of South Carolina police men's basketball star Devan Downey is out on bond, after being charged with simple assault.
Downey was arrested Monday night. He was released Tuesday on a $500 personal recognizance bond.
Russ McKinney with the university says the incident happened last week. McKinney told News19 that Downey and another student were involved in a minor altercation. The spokesman says the student just decided to file charges Monday.
Downey, a Guard from Chester, is a sophomore on the team and transferred from Cincinnati.
