GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A group of Furman University students is preparing for President Bush's upcoming visit by holding a candlelight peace vigil and reading the names of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq. The group of Furman seniors has planned to light candles Sunday to represent fallen soldiers and make paper cranes to hang around campus. Bush is scheduled to give Furman's graduation speech May 31 at the school with Baptist roots. The seniors planning the events were among more than 200 students and faculty who signed a petition earlier this month criticizing the Bush administration's handling of the Iraq war and environmental issues. Last week, a conservative student group released its own letter asking that administrators refuse to allow faculty members to skip ceremonies in protest.
