Craig Baldwin was sentenced after he entered an Alford plea to voluntary manslaughter in the death of his 83-year-old mother. An Alford plea does not admit guilt, but concedes there is enough evidence for a conviction.
Neighbors found Dale Baldwin's body covered with a blanket in the bushes on her front lawn about a mile from downtown Aiken in June 2006. Authorities said she had been dead for a week.
A day after his mother's body was found, Craig Baldwin walked his daughter down the aisle at her wedding in Lexington, Ky.
Investigators said Baldwin embezzled thousands of dollars from his mother and used the money for his daughter's wedding.
