
The Time Warner Cable 2008 Champion Principal Award, that honors principals who support and encourage their teachers to use technology in the classroom, is chosen from a talent pool of more than 60 principals from across the nation.
According to Richland School District One officials, Collins has "completely transformed the technology landscape at Hopkins Middle School."
Officials say the use of Smart Boards, computers in each classroom, and electronic grade books, are all common aspects of the middle school.
Under Collins' leadership, the school even offers an after-school robotics class.
