Georgetown (AP) -- South Carolina is getting a new $29 million plant to convert algae into fuel oil and with the plant, 60 new jobs. The state Commerce Department and Georgetown County announced Friday that Renewed World Energies will locate its new plant in the county. The company has a proprietary technology to convert cultivated algae into oil for diesel fuel and jet fuel. The company also plans to build an oil processing plant.
