Richland Co. (WLTX) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department has arrested two teens they say burglarized an Irmo home.
Deputies say that on Wednesday, 17-year-old Mathew D. Ferguson and another 16-year-old male, whose name has not been released because he is a minor, broke into a home on Willow Trail Road. Investigators say that once inside, the duo stole small valuable items such as a laptop computer, jewelry and an alarm clock.
Once the victim realized the items were stolen, they notified authorities and the stolen goods were later found at a local pawn shop. Deputies say they were then able to arrest the suspects after receiving a community tip.
Both suspects have been arrested and charged with burglary and grand larceny and were booked into the Richland County Jail.
Sheriff Leon Lott says that there have also been other burglaries in the same general area and warns that there may be others committing similar acts. Investigators say those crimes have taken place in the Belfair Subdivision, Walnut Grove subdivision, and Heather Stone subdivision.
