Los Angeles (AP) -- Authorities in Los Angeles say they've made an arrest after Monday's shooting of an up-and-coming rapper known as Dolla.

They say the Atlanta-based entertainer, also known as Roderick Burton, was shot several times at an upscale mall and later declared dead at a hospital. His publicist tells the Los Angeles Times the rapper was waiting at a Beverly Center valet stand at the time of the shooting.

Today, police say they've arrested a Georgia man, Aubrey Berry, for investigation of murder. They say the man was found with a gun at Los Angeles International Airport. Police say they were approaching the suspect when he put his hands in the air. He announced that he had a gun in his waistband and asked them not to shoot.

Dolla had worked on the soundtrack for the 2006 dance film "Step Up" and was a former model for Diddy's Sean John clothing line. He was signed to Jive and Elektra record labels.
